FLETCHER SIBTHORP
Fletcher Sibthorp
A collaboration with Sadlers Wells to create a painting for the flamenco troupe Paco Penaled led to a who's who of flamenco dancers including Eva Yerbabuena, Sara Baras and Maria Pages who were captured by Fletcher.
The Royal Ballet invited him to attend dress rehearsals, some of the famous names of dance attending were Darcey Bussell, Alina Cojacaru, Ed Watson and Sarah Lamb.
So impressed with the paintings that Fletcher had produced of her, Darcey Bussell invited him to attend her last rehearsal of her final performance with The Royal Ballet, Song of the Earth - the only artist to be offered such a privileged invitation. Reference gathered at this rehearsal was used for the painting ‘Darcey in Three Movements' created especially at Darcey's request, to hang in the dance studio named in her honour at The Royal Ballet School, Richmond Park. As an indication of his dedication to capturing dance, The Royal Ballet School made him Artist in Residence in 2010.
